France 9 and 10 June

Thursday 9 June 2011

Pau architecture

Pau, a large city with a splendid old quarter with art deco architecture and a boulevard from which you can view the Pyrenees, proved to be a good choice today.  We happily spent a few hours strolling about the city.  The views were fantastic; unfortunately the photos don’t do it justice.

We relaxed in the town square and had dinner at Marciac.

The town of Condom

Friday 10 June 2011
The cloudy, showery weather returned so we took another drive and arrived in the town of Condom.  We were thinking of doing a barge trip along the canal but the river was pastel brown, full of soil from the recently ploughed fields washed with the rain.

A leisurely lunch which we walked off by exploring the town and then returned home to pack and prepare for the very long drive we have to do tomorrow.
